Yawara – 27-28 (BD)

Christmas has come early here at Saizen with a double dose of Yawara for your holiday entertainment. And don’t let these ladies put you off with their disdainful looks in your direction, we give you permission to watch as many episodes of anime as you can fit into your Chrimbo fun.

On another note, today would have been the birthday of our much-missed amigo, ConsiderPhlebas, who was instrumental in our subbing of Yawara, on top of many many other projects. So as you enjoy the festivities of the season with lots of food and alcohol (or however you do your celebrations, we don’t judge), please raise a glass or turkey leg or just a thumbs-up to a guy who helped bring so much fansubbed anime to the English-speaking world that we wouldn’t otherwise have been able to watch.

Oh, don’t forget, this is a joint with our friends over at Live-eviL.

ConsiderPhlebas Memorial Day

Be-Bop 04

As many of you may know, three years ago today, Saizen (and the fansubbing community in general) lost a very dear friend. We’ve marked the anniversary of ConsiderPhlebas’s (CP) passing for the last few years, but this year, we decided to do something a little different. We cannot understate how much passion CP had for anime, so we thought: “What could be better than releasing a few episodes of stuff as a way to celebrate his life and the anime that was so dear to him?”

So today is ConsiderPhlebas Memorial Day. We intend this to be the start of a new tradition in Saizen, honoring the memory of a friend who helped us so much over the years to produce English-subtitled anime for the wider world. You may ask why we’ve chosen today to pay homage to him instead of his birthday, and it’s a good question, but we felt it was more appropriate to mark his “meinichi”: the day to celebrate CP’s legacy and share fond memories of him. It’s the norm in Japanese culture, so we figured CP would have loved it, considering how much he reveled in learning little cultural details like that.

For our first release of the day, we have Yawara, a show that’s synonymous with CP because he was a large part of the reason for us even picking it up. Stay tuned for more Saizen releases throughout the day.

Yawara – 21 (BD)

Yo!

It’s about time Yawara got some serious work-out done (even though #Beach2017 is over), good thing she’s got an unexpected visitor of the bigger sort. šŸ™‚

Also, donā€™t forget to visitĀ Live-eviL!

Addendum: This release marks the second anniversary of the passing of our much missed friend and all round supersubber, CP. Time moves on but his absence is felt every day in both Saizen and Live-Evil. It’s difficult to know what to say in times like this, especially when it seems like everything’s already been said, so I’ll keep it short and sweet: We miss you, buddy, and even if it takes us until we join you in eternal repose (which will probably be the case for Charady), we willĀ finish everything you poured so much effort into, to honor your memory.
