One Piece – 01

OnePiece1
And here’s our brand new project for you! Ruri-Saizen have always had a love affair with pirates (all that debauchery and pillaging is cool in our book), so what better way to scratch our eyepatch itch than to sub one of the greatest pirate shows ever created. Yes, One Piece may have started back in 1999 and it may be one of the most recognised anime shows coming out of Japan at the moment, having racked up a total of 589 episodes on its way to worldwide acclaim – but we decided that the only way to do this series justice was by starting from episode 1.

So while you finish gorging on your Easter chocolate, here’s episode 1 of One Piece to get you over the post-Easter blues.

DISCLAIMER: Even though we are releasing this using the Saizen and Ruri distribution networks, we have tagged it [Blackbeard] for legal reasons – so that those pesky licensing companies don’t realise that we’re the ones who subbed it. That’ll fool them πŸ˜€

DISCLAIMER #2: We stole borrowed the video of this episode from another group at gunpoint after some gentle persuasion. We were going to make our own logo to cover our tracks, but that was too much :effort: we wanted to acknowledge their encoding prowess.

Desperately Seeking Raws for Sasuke

Hi, merry followers of Saizen! Here in Saizen, we’re always looking out for potential projects to fill the void when our current ongoing series have ended. At the moment, with Igano, Ashita no Joe, Captain Tsubasa and Yawara all being pretty much midway through, there’s no rush for us to pick up any more series – and in fact, it’d probably put too much strain on the group to produce any more series. But one series has caught our eye that we would potentially like to produce subs for in the near future (Read: when any of those series ends). I present Sasuke: a popular series made in the late 60s about a young ninja who’s on the run because he and his father have been charged with war crimes. The penalty: death.

This series was a precursor to a lot of ninja series you see nowadays and there’s no doubt that shows like Naruto owe a lot to Sasuke. The only issue we’re having is this 29-episode title is out of print. No DVDs are currently on sale except for ridiculously high secondhand prices on amazon.jp. So we thought we’d give this a try – if there’s anyone out there who already has the DVDs, we are requesting the ISO’s so that we can produce a good sub of it for all the wonderful people who download our junk. There was an Italian version released at some point, as far as we can tell, so that might make the raws easier to come by, but unfortunately without the raws, Saizen’s hope of subbing this series will remain a pipedream.

This has been a public service announcement by Saizen. We thank you for your attention.

P.S. You can find a trailer for the series here:Β http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9h7fmy20D0 (it might spark a few memories!)

Quality checkers needed

Hey, guys. As you probably noticed, we have had more releases lately; meaning projects are picking up speed, and in order to maintain that speed, we need your help quality checking. So if you are interested in helping out on either Ashita no Joe or Captain Tsubasa Road to 2002, please send us an e-mail at saizen.recruits@gmail.com and ask for the QC test. πŸ™‚

Merry Christmas ‘N Happy New Year!

Posting live from Sweden…
The temperature is now pretty pleasant, with only -10 degrees, compared to yesterdays -20, including frozen water pipes, canceled flights, late trains, and roads hidden beneath the snow.
It’s Christmas Eve today which I’m about to spend with my family, open a few (hopefully not too soft) presents, eat meatballs, and do all those other traditions we do every year.
In terms of fansubbing, traditions are broken, and the most boring winter in Saizen’s history is a fact. πŸ™‚
No christmas releases except a couple of episodes of RAINBOW, which I btw hope we’ll finish soon, including a few others shows… ^^;
Anyway, here’s hoping for a more productive year 2011, and a merry christmas to everyone out there!
