Summer Special Grande Finale! 10th Anniversary!
Yo! Yo! Yo!
We did it, guys! It’s our 10th anniversary – the day that marks ten years since our very first release; the day that Ashita no Joe, the one series that defines what Saizen is all about, the one reason why Saizen was born, is finally finished!
Like with any big project, it’s been a long and bumpy road. Since I joined this project in early 2008, we’ve gone through more project members than I can count fingers on both hands. But we never gave up, and with the help of the awesome people at Hokuto no Gun, we finally made it to the end of the tunnel! I’d like to thank everyone who’s helped out through the years, you were all of great help! =)
I don’t know what people think about Saizen nowadays. I know the fansub scene has changed a lot these last few years, but I want you to know that Saizen still strives for the highest quality subs with original translations. We’ll always be providing free fansubs for everyone for as long as we enjoy what we do and we’ve got your support. I know some of you feel we are awfully slow, but we’re not competing with anyone and will always put real life first. It just so happens that this is our hobby and I hope you can realize this and refrain from trolling us every now and then. ^^; To whoever asked us what was our excuse, I hope you read this, and I’d also like you to know that we released 99 episodes and 2 movies from January through June, almost four releases per week.
Lately, due largely to simulcasting, our titles have been mostly old gems that are currently unsubbed or ones that only have really bad subs available, giving Saizen a more purposeful approach. I hope people still consider us and can enjoy old school titles just as much as new ones, which mostly are quite generic anyways if you ask me. 😛 Disclaimer: We do occasionally do somewhat new shows, too. ^^
It’s been 7 years since I joined Saizen, and it’s been such a ride: From a Shinsen Fanboy(TM) nobody wanted, to a fansub slave that worked his ass off, to a guy that has nothing better to do than write long news posts. ^^ I’ve really enjoyed my time here, and I’ve learnt a lot, and got to know a bunch of kind and awesome guys. I hope that I can make more memories in Saizen, and maybe I’ll be making a similar post in another ten years, or perhaps there’ll be someone else keeping Saizen alive, still kicking ass in the 2020s. =)
tl;dr: I’m really glad that I could make this post, and I hope you will enjoy the end of Ashita no Joe and our future releases, cause Saizen ain’t stopping at 10, baby! pls no trollerino, be humble to your fellow human beings, and enjoy the life that has been giving to you!
Stay tuned! Even more releases are on their way to celebrate this awesome day!

For those who don’t wanna download the episode all over again, here is a patch for you!
What no batch?

Disclaimer: THIS TORRENT ONLY HAS EPS 1 – 51 RIGHT NOW. I imagine it will get torrent-swapped at some point.
Three cheers for Saizen… hip, hip, hooray!
Well done, Saizen and all who sail in her. 10 years is some achievement 😀
thanks saizen team we hope to see another anime in 1970s golden era
Congratulations on the ten years, and thanks for the release. If it wasn’t for you guys (and Hokuto no Gun), I wouldn’t have been able to watch this great show. Good luck with your other projects.
thanx a ton , let me assure u guys, we fans will fund u ppl no matter wat 🙂 so keep up the good work, congratulations on the decade completion, loads of love, pls pls try your level best on CT now before XMas this year 😉 God bless u all 🙂
>the day that marks ten years since our very first release
>the day that Ashita no Joe, the one reason why Saizen was born, is finally finished!
Wouldn’t this mean that Joe took you 10 years to sub? That doesn’t seem to be the case.
Ser2703 can tell you more in detail, but it was his initial intention when founding Saizen (that and Slam Dunk).
While Saizen was started to sub AnJ, it took a few years before the project got off the ground. Ashita no Joe has taken up a good chunk of Saizen’s time over the years though, whether it was started at its inception or not 😀
Also, do One Outs DVDs/BDs lol.
Happy anniversary Saizen.
Good on ya guys.
>that and Slam Dunk
At least you tried. I hear there’s no interest for picking up the series again?
Can you TL jpn to eng? If not, no. Or if you’re really good in English, could potentially work too.
FalseDawn, if raws can be found for it, would Saizen actively sub GeGeGe no Kitarou 2007’s TV series? You said you personally wanted to do it, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Saizen would.
Read: http://www.saizen-fansubs.com/dvdbd-requests/
I highly doubt this one will ever take off, though. FalseDawn might dream about it at best. ^^
Happy anniversary! Kampai!
That’s a really a great day for all anime fans out there 😀
I get interested in your work because of Joe but picked up a few other series along the way and hope to do so in the future, keep up an outstanding work!
Congratulations on finishing this! Must be a great feeling. Hope you are all having a great day. I know I’m gonna have fun rewatching from the beginning and making it all the way to the end for the first time.
So yeah, thanks guys. ^^
We’ll be going over ep 1-17 for our final batch, and maybe add another v2 on random episodes.
Happy Saizen Day! 😀
OMG, thank you so very much! 🙂
I followed this series with you for almost 7 years 🙂
My final count (not counting v2, v3s, ..):
2007: 2 releases
2008: 4 releases
2009: 3 releases
2010: 9 releases
2011: 10 releases
2012: 17 releases
2013: 24 releases
2014: 10 releases
It’s been a long road, and I am soooo old now 😀
Thanks again!
Regards
Yeeees we love you! And don’t get bothered by the nonsense some idiots spout – for every person like that there’s a dozen more who greatly appreciate your efforts. There’s a ton of golden classics like ANJ out there and it’s only due to people like you that they’re accessible to wider audience <3
Thank you so much for you’re hard work and good will to sub AnJ.When I started to follow you with AnJ I also got to view one of my favorites animes in Kyou kara Ore wa and Captain Tsubasa. You’re one of the few groups who are subing old school animes with such a high video, audio and Translation quality.I’m not fluent in japanese but i can see some differences in comprasion with other fansub groups.Keep up the good work 🙂
Thanks everyone for your kind comments, and don’t worry, olaf, we’re all old now. 😛 That list though, man. XD
It’s been a very, very, long ride. And many times did we need to pay for translations because we didn’t have anyone willing to translate the shows we subbed. Thankfully this has changed the last couple of years, though. And we have several highly talented translators on board in our ship that’s becoming larger and larger. Thank you, fellow saizen staff, for all the awesome work you’ve put in. And thank you, the fans who appreciate what we’re doing \o/
I’ve been following Saizen since 2007 🙂
Because of Aoki Densetsu Shoot!
Absolutely wonderful news. It seems like no big deal now since you’ve been steadily, but there were times when I thought (years ago) that this day would never come.
I cannot imagine how much effort went into this. The result speaks for itself though. I’m really going to enjoy watching this when I find time for it.
Good to hear there is a patch coming. 🙂
I’ve been waiting for this for years! Great day, thank you so much for your hard efforts and for going all the way to the end!
Happy birthday, all 😀 thx for the reminder, olaf ;p ;p
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
YAY they really finished it hehehe
another never gonna have subs anime for my collection ^^
happy birthday saizen, just found it last year but keep up the good work ^^
Congrats for finally finishing it guys!
Wow! What a surprise. Happy Anniversary. Thank you very much and kudos to Saizen staff and the fans.
Amazing guys. Thanks for all that you have done and happy tenth anniversary. Here for another 10 or even 100 😀
Take care
Great to see all this come to fruition, and I’m glad to have been a part of it!
By the way, Juggen/sangofe/whoever, I gather from the DVD/BD requests page that you’re interested in the Tiger Mask DVDISOs? Half the series and the entire sequel are up on ADC, but I downloaded them and I can upload them for you to spare you a hit on your ratio. Katatonia and I may be able to help on the translation front as well. Just drop me a line if you’re interested.
thnx buddies, could you tell wts new in 71ep V3??? and please can you try to complete CT now, i hope more emphasis and planning can be given to CT to complete it as soon as possible, thanx 🙂
god damn it, SaizenFan, don’t you think we try to finish things as soon as possible?
Congrats for completing Anj! I hope you’ll keep up the good work in the future as well and complete more of these classical series. (I wonder sangofe is still interested in subbing Moero Top Striker?)
Congrats!
Very cool that you completed the series, I’m anxiously waiting for the batch.
Congrats on finishing up AnJ and reaching your 10th anniversary! Hats off to all of your hard work and dedication. Keep up the awesome work, my fellow comrades in fansubban arms. 😀
Congratulations on finishing this legendary boxing title! You’ll certainly give everyone a chance to experience it at last.
Also, wherever those trolls are, they’re either in the minority or barely there at all from what I’ve seen here. You’d only get mocked extensively if you were suffering like other groups, but you are not. In fact, you fellows are more enduring than ever before. You are all part of the quality standard for fansub groups these days, that most would aspire to achieve as they struggle month by month.
So here’s to another decade of quality. 🙂
Congrats to the whole team. Glad to see this got finished and glad I could be a part of it.
– Reed Tiburon, editor, ep. 41-72
Congratulations!

Maybe if I were 15 years old, but I’m 31 with a daugther turning 1 this year, so I’ll have to say no.

I think SaizenFan missed this:
“Saizen still strives for the highest quality subs with original translations” and “I know some of you feel we are awfully slow, but we’re not competing with anyone and will always put real life first. It just so happens that this is our hobby…” meaning it takes a lot of time and we’re subbing when we have time and feel like it, a.k.a. when many of you masturbate, watch anime, and play games. ^^
Thank you for making tomorrow a reality.
Pfft, sangofe. Says the TL of Captain Tsubasa 😛
One of them. I haven’t tl’d that many eps tbh. Less than 30.
Happy 10th anniversary Saizen!
I just looked back at when we (Hokuto No Gun) helped with AnJ…and it was around 2011! Man time flew by soooo quick!
Good luck with your other projects as well.
Happy anniversary Saizen!
Thanks, guys.
ah im late! but congrats to all! victory dance!
Awesome! Finally got to see it all! Awesome job guys, and happy anniversary.
Now I’m on to ANJ2, marathoning it today on my day off. But I know I’ll hit a road block soon. Eps 31-38 have been on my queued list for a couple months now. No seeds. Any chance you anime fans out there can re-seed those eps? I promise to continue to seed those, since all other eps currently have seeds. All that’s missing is eps 31-38 PLEASE HELP!
It’s on crunchyroll for free. If you’re outside the us, use a proxy to fake your ip.
Yeah but I’m a nut. I like to keep the file 🙁
All my downloading programs won’t work for Crunchyroll.
But yes, at least I’ll get to watch it if all else fails. Thanks Sangofe.
JustSumDude, there is ANJ2 subbed in the net
I’d strongly reccomend Crunchyroll’s subs over anything else that’s out on internet for Ashita no Joe 2.
@sangofe, is there anyway to rip the subs/scripts from CR for ANJ2, i did drop a line on HorribleSubs regarding ripping the series from CR, but guess they are busy with other projects as well, if there is a way to rip the subs/scripts from CR please do let me know, ill rip them and upload for the team 🙂 God bless ..
and guys if anyone does have the DVD/ISOs for “F” (the F1 racing anime), please do upload them for the team to work on it or yes please let me know where to get it from, i can upload the same for everyone on ADC or upload them to any free file-hosters 🙂
@Fan: I’d have to look into it, but yeah, there are ways. And regarding Horriblesubs, they don’t do anything; it’s an automated process. I guess they’d need to manually do things to rip AnJ2, though.
@sangofe , thanx a lot buddy, do let me know when your free about how to rip subs/scripts of ANJ2 from CR, just as an extra info, i came to know that the english subs for ANJ2 (its named in CR as Champion Joe 2) are HARDSUBBED and not as soft subs 🙁 but yes do let me know the process so i can look into it and rip for u guys, thanx again 🙂
i got a decent internet connection right now and a new system, i wanna help u guys out becox u have done a lot for bringing my childhood memories back, sorry about SaizenFan, hes a bit noob about things over here (i know him since he was in 5th grade), anyways all the best guys 🙂
Yeah, they’re hardsubbed, sadly, but it’s subbed at least.
very true sangofe, sumthing is better than nothing right 🙂 but ya am getting a lot of comments on Takara’s work on ANJ2, its really very bad it seems, so we need to rip ANJ2 from CR, if you could just let me know the process, i would be more than happy to rip all the eps off and create a batch torrent on the same, but let me first tell you that am from a restricted region, so i use proxy to view ANJ2 on CR, when ur free sangofe just let me know how to rip the eps and ill create a batch for the team and fans 🙂
Great job guys!
Please someone help us to rip ANJ2 from CR, please let us know how to do it, it seems HR uses an internal program to rip te rips, hope there are other ways as well, we need ANJ2 with better subs than Takara’s so please do come forward with suggestions on ripping videos from CR, thanks
“how to rip videos from CR” some CR download toolkit DX, there is on google, dunno if it works, not gonna try anyway, dont even know if CR works here
it doesnt work, had verified
does anyone know to rip from CrunchyRoll or not??
It looks like Horriblesubs are starting to do it.
ANJ2 raws are fully available on ADC.
Guys, first of all i’m sorry for bothering you and i know this isn’t the place to ask,but if someone knows and has the good will to replay to my qustion i would be very grateful.Does the AnJ 1 and 2 cover all of the manga and if not what is missing or changed.Thank you in advance and again sorry for asking here.
ok so no need answering i just finished reading the manga and WOW…
Kai, you read the whole manga in 7+ hours? Addictive, huh? =D
<- Owns AnJ manga and DVDs (both series and both movies).
Request HS to rip AnJ2 from CR, here is the 1080p version of AnJ2 ripped from CR -> http://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=576788
does the manga (AnJ and AnJ2) have anything more than wat is shown in the TV series?? if yes please let us the fans who have not yet read the manga know.
HS have already said that they’ll only do the 1080p for :reasons: so looks like you’re stuck with that. But it isn’t difficult to dl them and use the scripts on other available raws if you really want other resolutions.
@SaizenFan
The anime is pretty faithful to the manga content. The big differences are the filler episodes in the AnJ TV series 1 & 2.
I haven’t watched the whole TV series yet, but the gym’s doctor (who apparently vanishes later on) is a filler character, and the episode where Danpei coincidentally has a family member who runs a hot spring (someone who’s never mentioned again) is a filler episode.
As for stuff the anime didn’t cover, there are differences. During the match with Tiger, the coach tells Joe about his weakness during the match, while in the anime he doesn’t until after the throws the towel. Also, the scene where Joe vomits on the mat is more “graphic” in the manga.
Most significantly, though, is that the anime lacks those great crowd and audience shots in the manga. It would be worth it to check out the manga just to see the art direction and how it develops over the course of the series.
